So, I have a seperate partition for windows with bootcamp, and I also use vmware fusion with that partition. I just tried to run a cd in windows through vmware, but the cd isn't being read, it shows up on my os x desktop, but not when I go to my computer in windows xp. If I shutdown and run bootcamp, no problem, the cd is there and I can run the program. What am I doing wrong? I want to run it through vmware.

Make sure you have your CD drive set to your physical drive, not a virtual drive or disc image in your VM settings.

Also, I've seen some quirkiness where you need to insert the disc after the VM is loaded or it won't see it. That hasn't happened to me in a while though.

sorry if I sound stupid, but where do I do these things? i don't ever use fusion

Check along the bottom of the VM window in the VMware Tool bar you will see a CD icon, right click on it and connect to the drive.
