ok so i downloaded the new itunes 5 dmg the minute i heard it was released, i opened it, and ran the installer and now it keeps telling me to quit itunes before beginning the update but itunes is already quit. in fact the only thing open is installer. i push OK and it keeps popping up. it happens right in the first part of the installation where it says running itunes installer script
. the warning also pops up even after i force quit the installer

thanks for the help

EDIT: nevermind problem solved.

look at stuff in the process viewer, no offense meant if your a unix expert.
If nothing itunes related is running, either try deleting the playlist file
( ~account/music/itunes/itunesmusiclibrary.xml) or wait untill the next update.

I had the same problem, even though neither itunes or the itunes helper were running.

Code:
iTunesX cannot be installed on this computer.

Please quit iTunes before performing this update.

Rather than deleting the playlist file, I solved the problem by creating a new account and using it to install itunes.
