problem on macbook

hi,i'm using macbook but i had discover whenever i start up my macbook,there will be a folder icon with the ? in the folder appear before the apple logo appear on the screen.Can someone advise me what is happening down here.

Looks like your hard disk is toast. Does it eventually boot up?

The OP may have used bootcamp and not removed it properly.
