i have a .bin compressed file that i just can't seem to open, I've tried toast titanium, and stuffit expander and really have no clue what to do next to open it.

the file is a firmware update for my surround sound its available here at

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/HW-C450/XAA

if anyone could enlighten me i would be grateful!
many thanks
tom

I went to the address provided above, and downloaded the file.

It was in .zip format -- I decompressed it.

I ended up with a folder with these two files inside:
hms-450wwm-1004.0.bin
HMS-450WWW-TX_1.30_11E4.bin

Did you download the instructions?
(Note: I didn't)

I'm going to -guess- that these are supposed to be burned to a CD, and then you can use a CD player to "read them into" the device you're trying to update.

I opened Toast and chose to create a data CD for both "Mac and PC" format (the instructions might require the use of a different format).

Then I dropped the file into Toast, and it looks like at that point I could burn to CD (I didn't actually create a CD, as I have no use for it)

That .bin file is not compressed... that is the actual firmware upgrade file itself.

Go back to the Samsung site and read the install PDF here. You need two USB keys, then you copy the zip files you downloaded one onto each USB key then double click them to expand them. Then use the two USB keys one after the other to do the FW update.
