problem playing .wmv

my apologies if this is in the wrong place or if there is already a thread. I have quicktime and flip4mac and when i download wmv files and try to open them Im prompted with a message that says it is not a movie file. Am I a complete idiot and missing something really simple? thanks a bunch

One of two things are occurring:

1) You did not install Flip4Mac properly.

2) The .WMV is corrupted.

I would download and install Perian (www.perian.org). Works better than Flip4Mac.
