so I got the 3G iPhone on the 11th and I had my number ported over from verizon I wasn't getting a lot of text messages so they told me it takes up to 72 hours for verizon to fully get my number out of their system so its been two weeks now and I'm still having problems not as bad as before but I still don't receive about 10% of my text messages everyday the problem only happens with texts from other carriers...so I just want to know if anyone else is having this problem of if anyone had this problem and got it resolved

Thanks

I posted this exact same problem in another thread. I ported over my number from verizon as well.
I have called both verizon and ATT and they both don't seem to know what the problem is.
Just last night, I did a complete restore of my iPhone on iTunes. I have received all of my text messages so far for the day. Before I say this fixed the problem, I am going to give it a couple of days and see if I run into the same problem of not receiving all of my texts.

ok yeah I may have to try that as well...I called AT&T and they wrote up a "problem ticket" and said they would try to resolve it by the 30th so we'll see what happens

Iphone port from verizon problem recieving text messages

I also ported over from verizon wireless. Ok heres what i know i called at&t the first time i experienced this problem not only where some text messages not coming they were also being delayed. They said to wait 24-72 for the por to complete and they would call back on tuesday with an update I bought the phone on july 16th.They never called back. So yesterday and today I have been on the phone for 6 hours total. I called AT&T yesterday and the lady i spoke to and i quote said "The problem is on verizons end we asked a third party vendor called verisign(or verasign not sure of the spelling) and they said that it was verizon delaying or blocking your text messages" and they advised me to call verizon. I called verizon and when i told the guy at verizon what the att person said he promptly began laughing but agreed to check into the issue for me. And he responded, "The port is completed on our side and there is no way that we can block or prevent text messages being sent to an ATT number." So i called back att was on hold forever and spoke to another lady she made no reference to the previous call told me to turn off the phone they were going to update some settings blah blah and it still wasnt working properly. She even sent me test text messages from another network some of which were being delayed also. Then she also said to have a person from verizon call and ask why texts arent going through to my number. I did this and just called as myself because i still have a verizon phone that is active. I called even sent a text message from that phone where the problem occured and verizon said that the problem is on the ATT side. So today i called att and spoke to a very helpful technician lady and she tried everything and i was still experiencing the problem. She said to go to an ATT store and switch out the SIM card but after looking at my schedule i realized i didnt have time for that. So i called back and asked to be connect to another technician but the lady on the phone said that was not possible(she sounded new so its understandble) so she went through the same steps over again and said that i needed to wait a minimum of 2 hours max of 24 then call back but in the mean time i could call apple for support. I did that the guy at apple had me reset my network connections and my phone. I did that the problem was still happening messages were being delayed and i wasnt recieving some. I even had my friend email me a list of sent and recieved text messages i had that day and they did not match. So finally i called att again and this time there might be a problem with the network and they are trying to upgrade. This doesnt work for me tho because i have consistently been experiencing the problem. This lady even looked at the central hub for text messages and could not find the missing ones. Its very annoying so i might just end up taking the phone back. Also this problem usually only happens with people on other networks with newer phones. Whats crazy is that i get emails on my device before text messages.
