Problem running FFVIII

I'm trying to run Final Fantasy VIII in Boot Camp, but the game lags quite a bit. I've tried switching between Hardware and Software graphics renderers, full and quarter screen, and even the text option, but no matter what settings I run it under, the game will not run at full speed.

Any suggestions on what the problem is and/or how to fix it?
