Hi folks,
I have just formatted an external hard drive on my MacBook Air. I have been able to transfer small folders over to the new disk, however when trying to transfer my photos library which is 29.76GB things come to a standstill. The on screen message says 'Copying "Photos Library.photoslibrary" to "Backup" (I've renamed the external disk Backup) and under that it says zero bytes of 29.76GB - estimating time remaining.....

And nothing is happening - any ideas of where I am going wrong?
Thanks a million.

What format is the external disk? You want to format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility.
