Hey all,

So, I have had a 2013 iMac 27" for a while. As I posted a few weeks ago, I opted to make a bootable drive from a Samsung 850 EVO and a LaCie rugged thunderbolt enclosure...

However, during the past week, I have had 2 separate instances of my iMac freezing with a pinwheel. I wan't doing any intensive tasks (just surfing the web and watching a Hulu video at the same time. I may have had Wod open also).

My specs are the base iMac 27" quad-core i5 with the 1TB internal spinner drive, but the Ram is upgraded to 24 gb (since day 1).

Any reason to think the SSD is the cause of these recent freezing problem?

Could be, I don't remember the exact number of power consumption supported on the LaCie. But depending on the capacity of your 850 EVO it might be too much for the LaCie. 500GB version should be fine as I recall.

I'm running an 850 Evo 1TB in a Seagate Backup Plus Thunderbolt enclosure as my boot drive/Windows 8 drive. No issues.
