I have a problem with my iPhone insofar as Whenever I am making an on-the-go playlist and have added between 10 and 15 songs, the screen goes momentarily blank before promptly returning me to the home screen. It means that creating a playlist of about 40 tracks has to be done in around three steps.

I thought it might be something that a new software release would iron out but I’ve upgraded the software each time a new version has been rolled out and I am still having the same problem.

Has anyone else had this issue and / or found a workaround?

NB: I have searched for this topic in the forum really rather tirelessly and not found it. If you have seen the same topic come up before, please do not reply with a haughty and pointless “This has been raised before. Please use the search function”. To reiterate: I have already used the search function without success. Thanks for all other sensible answers.

I haven't used the on-the-go feature, but I can say that I found a different way to make some neat "on-the-go" style playlists using the ratings. Assuming you don't rate all of your songs anyway, you can make smart play lists in itunes that include "all 1 star songs" "all 2 star songs" etc, and then sync them to your phone. Then, when listening to a song on the phone, just rate it according to which playlist you want it to show in, and it dynamically updates the playlist. Kind of neat. Might be a "workaround" for ya until the on-the-go problem is solved.

I have this issue with my iPod touch! it's very annoying, but at least you don't have to restart the entire list! you can resume from the song that effed up the screen!

Months later (not to mention multiple firmware updates) this issue is still very much alive and no less irritating than when I first reported it last year.

Is there no solution to this most aggravating of problems? A very rudimentary task is hindered almost beyond comprehension and I find it astonishing that it is still to be addressed by Apple.

I've had the same problem. Never found a workaround except to stop entirely making playlists on the go and instead making them through iTunes, which wholly defeats the object of it being 'on the go'.

Playlists

I personally haven't had this problem (but then I seldom make playlists on the go) but my friend has. He even went to see a Genius at the Apple Store on Regent Street and was told that a number of people have complained of this issue. I don't think he ever got a solution for it, though.

I am having this problem too: after I have added about 20 songs into the playlist the screen goes momentarily black before returning me to the main menu / home screen.

Why won't Apple fix this problem? If anyone has a suggested solution please post!
