Everything used to work fine with 13.1 (and older)

Now my usb SD/CFexpress card reader stopped working out of nowhere, the status light turn on and stay solid, but my cards won’t mount (won’t even show up in disk management)

Same thing with my usbc ssd, lights turn on, then nothing happens.

What’s wierd is they show up when I boot in recovery mode, and they both show up just fine on my intel 2016 mbp with 13.2 as well.

Also, my usbc raid enclosure works fine with both.

What the hell happened?

This might be related to a macOS 13.2 bug I suffer from as none of my external optical drives are recognised by my 2017 iMac. Two of them are Pioneer BDR-S09XLT drives in OWC Mercury Pro cases (attached directly to the Mac via USB) and one is a Pioneer BDR-XU03 (directly attached via USB as well). I tested them by booting from a different SSD on the same iMac with macOS 13.1 installed and they worked flawlessly. What’s specifically weird is that under macOS 13.2 the Mercury Pro cases as well as the Pioneer USB drive are shown in the USB section of the macOS System Profiler application but not under the section "Disc Burning". It seems that something with macOS 13.2 went quite wrong.

The problem is fixed, allowing a certain JMicron driver is what causes problems. I reinstalled macos, and never allowed that driver (and everything still works fine) and everything works as before.

Thanks for reporting back! I saw your reaction already in the other thread but, unfortunately, there is no JMicron driver installed in my case. Of course I’d prefer such an easy solution … Congrats that it worked with your configuration!

This is what worked for me:
Settings> Privacy & Security - scroll down to Allow accessories to connect then choose from:
Ask Every Time
Ask For New Accessories
Automatically When Unlocked
Always

Hope this helps.

This is irrelevant for intel user however, theses options are only for arm macs

I allowed my Mac Studio M1 Ultra to do an overnight OS update to 13.2. The next morning when I came into my office my external thunderbolt mounted RAID was not longer visible on the Mac Studio. Upon trying to reboot the system the external drive will not mount any longer. Are there any known solutions to this? Have others had the same problem? Thanks much.
