Listening to some tunes, mindin' my own business. Using some Bose earphones. Go to change the track, pause music, change volume... nothing works. The fix: unplug the adapter from the phone and then plug it back in. The in-line controls start working again. Really annoying. Almost seems like it's a on/off trigger issue for the adapter. Haven't played around with different variables to find out exactly under what condition it's from but it happens all the time. My worry is going to the Bose or Apple store will be a waste of time.

I've been using the lightning EarPods that came with my new iPhone 7 and they wig out too. I don't know exactly what I did, but it wasn't anything weird. I think I was in the middle of watching a video, then turned off the screen, and then turned it back on. The video resumed playing and it thought it was playing audio but nothing was coming out until I unplugged the headphones and then replugged them back in.

I didn't really care about the removal of the headphone jack, and I still don't care very much, but the lightning port solution seems to be inferior to the 3.5mm jack.

See if 10.0.2 fixes your issue.
