Hi
I just got a Canon EOS 450D Twin IS kit. I went out today to take some pics and I think i may have a problem with the 55-250 IS lens. Here are some pics to show what i mean.

1. Sides are blurry. Really weird looking.
EXIF: 1/500s, f/8.0

2.Looked perfect in viewfinder. I distinctly remember so because as I looked through the viewfinder I thought "This will look good printed"
EXIF: 1/400s, f/7.1

EXIF: f/6.3, 1/2000, ISO 400.

If anyone thinks it is a lens problem please let me know as I am going to cairns in 7 days and would like to have it repaired/replaced in time.
Thanks.

My initial reaction was to say shutter speed, but clearly your speeds are more then fast enough. Were these handheld? I would recommend going and getting it replaced or repaired. Is your other lens producing similar results? If so could be a camera fault.

I don't think my other lens is but im going to do more testing tomorrow.

Very strange, it's almost as if one of the elements hasn't been mounted properly and is sitting slightly cock-eyed with respect to the (intended) optical axis.

Issue is now solved. Took it back to the place where I got it and they replaced it without question (Or even testing it).
