iPod Problem with Contacts on iPod Classic

In my contacts on my MBP i use custom names for phone numbers when people live together. This works fine on the MBP but when i sync it to my iPod classic all the custom names disappear and it just says 'work' for all of them. This is highly annoying because it means i can't differentiate who's phone number is who's.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?
