Help? I'm still a newbie and I think I messed something up. When I booted my iMac this morning it took longer and with lots of scratching on the harddisk. And then I noticed when I mouse over the dock the icons don't magnify or jump when I click on them. I checked the preferences and both the magnification and the animate opening applications are ticked.
The only thing I did last night was following this tip: http://osxdaily.com/2007/05/17/make-hidden-applications-transparent-in-the-dock/
I guess I should know better than muck around with terminal when I don't really know what I'm doing. I have since undone that and the icons don't get transparent when I hide an application. But my dock is still not working properly. Is there a way to reset it? Can it be restored with Time Machine?

Anyone know how to fix that?

Delete these two files from your Library/Preferences folder in your home directory: com.apple.dock.plist and com.apple.dock.db Then you need to restart the dock through the Terminal application in the Applications/Utilities folder. To restart dock either quit it in the Activity Monitor program or enter the following command in Terminal:

killall Dock

The dock will restart and it will be rebuilt to the default state.

Give this a shot... hopefully it will fix your problem.
