Problem with Edge

Okay so a couple of weeks ago back when my iPhone (2nd. Gen.) was running 2.0, I installed boss prefs via Cydia and turned off Edge completley.(I was running low on kilobyte usage and it was the beginning of the month). Well about a week ago, I updated to 2.1, my phone is unlocked still, but not Jailbroken. Yesterday, when I tried to use Edge for a quick browse of a page, my phone displayed the "Safari cannot display the webpage because it is not connected to the internet" message.
Could it be that even after I updated my phone, Edge was still turned off?
If it is, it's not a big deal because I plan on updating to 2.2 in a few days.

It might be depending how you updated. My advice to you is that when you decide to update to 2.2 you should put the phone into dfu mode and upgrade to 2.2 through iTunes, and then use quickpwn. That will guarantee a fresh install.
