I just migrated to Mac from a PC (after years of abuse, I just gave up!) and I am very happy so far. One problem I have encountered is with the Excel:Mac 2008 program, which I had to load because of work issues.

Whenever I open an Excel file (which were all created on PCs), the Mac seems to lock up. I can sometimes access other programs but sometimes have to turn off the computer all together because it just locks.

Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

I've had a similar issue before but it was resolved with updates. Have you run all the updates? If so, probably try a reinstall.

Excel Lock up

Hi There

I'm also new to Mac & experiencing the same problem. The same excel file freezes the whole mac but then later will open with no hassles whatsoever. Did the advice given on the forum help you?

I have just run the latest updates and it seems to have made no difference.

Regards

Steve

yeah, it worked. word, however, is still a pain in the butt. does all sorts of wacky things in spaces and sometimes decides just to freeze.
