I never noticed this problem with these fonts I installed until now. Nor does fontbook, or other programs that uses mac's font selection program have the same problem.

When I want to change fonts, the font list in microsoft word lists EVERY SINGLE possble version of the font, from bold, to condensed italics etc.... and worst of all, it lists them for a huge variety of weights. Instead of listing these fonts under one font family, i get a huge list that runs on forever.....imagine trying to scoll down to get times new roman. ARGh!

Anyone know whether it is my fonts' problem, or just MS word and how to solve it?

This is one area where I much prefer the way that MacOS 9 and earlier handles fonts. Cocoa's Font Palette displays a hierarchy of styles. The Carbon font menu displays all styles as equals. It would be nice if something like Adobe Type Reunion were available for MacOS X. Stone Design's FontSight™ adds a Font menu with an ATR-type font hierarchy, but it is exclusive to Cocoa apps.
