problem with imovie '08

i am trying to import some episodes of the tv show 24, so i can make a video of some of the scenes, and every time i import a video nothing shows up at the bottom of the screen, it says no matching videos.

just use the default settings.. (assuming you haven't messed with them previously)

what about joining multiple video files is there a way in quicktime? or imovie?
