So I just signed up for a free trial on .Mac and I cannot for the life of me get my MAIL app to connect to my account. It connects fine to my msn account but it won't work for my .Mac account.

I followed all the directions, did the port to 587 instead of 25...but I keep getting this error:

The server error encountered was: The server “mail.mac.com” refused to allow a connection on port 143

And it says my account is offline. Can anyone help out?

It's an IMap type account and the server port is 25.

It should look like this :

It is set to Imap and I changed the port to 25 but it still doesnt work.:(

Yup it looks exactly like that yet it still says the same error.

Are you connecting through a router that might be blocking that port?

Check your security settings also.

And what O/S are you using ?

Yes I am connecting through a Linksys Wireless router.

I don't exactly know what you mean by "Check your security settings"

I am using Leopard.

Would it help if I just bought a Apple Airport Exteme basestation? I mean...Apple seems to have everything work fine...and I have been eyeing the basestation. Is it that much easier to configure than a Linksys router???
