I think this is in the right forum.
Here's the scenario...

I accidentally got a spot of juice on my laptop keyboard (the F9 key to be exact). Since doing so also included getting a whole TON of juice on my lap, I immediately closed my laptop (without noticing the drop of juice), ran to the washroom and cleaned myself up.

When I pulled my laptop out, I noticed there is a little dark spot on the screen, right at the bottom where the F9 key would have been while the screen is closed. I cleaned the drop of juice off the key, and noticed the spot on the screen. I think rubbing it a bit with a very slightly wet finger reduced the size of the spot, but the spot is still about 1mm (I think about 4-5 pixels) in diameter, and appears to be *behind* the screen.

Does anyone know what's wrong, or how I can get rid of the spot? I've tried shutting the laptop down for a while to turn the screen off but that didn't do anything. It's almost definitely behind the screen somehow, but I don't know how that could have happened.

The laptop is only a week old, so if I need to I suppose I could exchange it, but I'd rather try and get rid of it myself to avoid the hassle.

Any suggestions/explanations would be helpful, this sucks!

I would put in near a sunny window and see if it dries out!

It could just be that the screen is now dirty.

My macbook is a true pain to get the screen evenly clean, and I've now given up!!

Just get a lint free soft cloth and put a little water (not wet, just damp) and clean the screen gently. You can get those special screen-cleaning cloths from computer stores if in doubt.

Hopefully you might find that fixes your problem. If not, you'll stop noticing it soon anyway!

I've since returned home and used a microfiber cloth to clean the screen, and the spot is definitely somehow under the protective layer... with the screen completely off it's perfectly clean, but when it's on there's that tiny dark spot.. grr.. how would the juice soak through the plastic??
