Do you have any apps running like caffeine?

Try rebooting the MBP making sure no apps are running and close the lid to see if then sleeps

This, but try booting in Safe mode (hold the left Shift key when powering on, releasing Shift once you see the Apple with a progress bar underneath) to disable third party extensions and add-ons as well.

Also, you may have a corrupted sleep image that is preventing the Mac from sleeping. If safe mode had the same result then run this command in Terminal (you'll be asked for your password) and try again.

    Code:
    sudo rm /private/var/vm/sleepimage

Run the command below in Terminal to ID processes that are keeping your system awake. See this article to interpret the command output.

    Code:
    pmset -g assertions
