Why does everyone think their entitled to extra? Some things go bad, cant be helped. It people like op that make providing customer service really suck. If it happens twice...OK maybe then. If their polite and are trying their hardest to make you happy then what more can you ask? They dont want you back with defective stuff. And really...an hour drive? Thats it? I live in the Midwest, thats childs play.

wow... haha

In my first post, i asked if it would be too much to ask for the upgraded model, i wasnt insisting on it, go back and read it.

If you upgraded and had no problems and are happy with it, who shouldn't I be able to upgrade it. and what would you do if you were in my shoes? if you machine was out of order?

and the product specialist declared it a DOA that means they sold me a defective machine.

a car is a different situation, but i see what you are trying to get at.

I did an erase and install, which took about 4 hours. That didnt solve the problem.

I would mail it in, but that takes at least a week.

I dont know, maybe i just feel like i should get something out of it because i worked so much to get the mac, about a year, and i'm only 17, so 1200 dollars is quite a lot of money to us younger folk, and when i spend that kind of money i expect it to work.

Can we just hug it out hldan...?

And i was asking how far i could stretch it, i know its my fault i dont live a stones throw away from an apple store, but ive wasted a whole day trying to get this fixed, and taken care of. So when i go in there tomorrow, i will ask them if i can be compensated somehow for my problems, because Macs, "They Just Work.", right?
...

btw, i didnt have to ask for them to replace my machine, i described the problem, and he knew what was going on, and he said the only way to solve the problems is to exchange it for a new one, and i shouldnt have problems on a day old machine anyway.

In the vast majority of cases they do "just work." IMO, you're getting a year of free AppleCare which is replacing your machine. A day's lost time is well-compensated with a replacement machine.

Hogwash

I had my own business for 10 years with company vehicles and work machines. We had new equipment that would last a good month and or a day before spitting out the sounds of death. The dealers that I delt with came and picked them up and gave me a temp replacement because thats how they handle there "PRO" customers. Apple is portraying that the have "PRO" equipment, should they come and get it and give him a temp replacement? Well I say that would be nice but not expected, but they should out of good business practice offer (not ask to) some kind of compensation. This compensation really has nothing to do with monetary value but "PR" (Personal relations). It's simply good business. Maybe you should ask them for a free upgrade and a free computer for you loved one... LOL? Don't slay me guys I'm only kiddin!

That's great; unfortunately for you and everyone else that is in this situation that's not Apple's policy.

That's stupid. My car breaks down every once in a while, but I don't demand the $5 in gas that it takes me to get to the dealer to have it fixed. If I did, I'd get laughed at.
