Hi There!

I've have got a sony dcr-sr75 camcorder, it records in the mpeg format. This makes me have to convert all the files before being able to use them in iMovie. Also the mpeg files seem to have very low playback quality when comparing to playback in Windows xp. Do you guys have any suggestions how I could edit in iMovie 09 without having to convert into another format and suggest a solution for the quality loss in Mac OSX.

Thanks in advance!

Paul

No, MPEG is a delivery format. In order to edit, it must be converted to something else first - this is true for Windows as well.

Convert to DV using MPEGStreamClip, it will retain the max quality through the conversion.

MPEG isn't good for editing. Convert to DV format, get MPEG Streamclip. Careful on the settings you use, you might end up with an extremely large .dv file ;)

EDIT: Damn, beaten!
