Problem with new Superdrive

Purchased a new Superdrive (Pioneer DVR-118LBK) to replace my aging Sony. No problems installing however, cover on the disk tray in the new unit is larger than the one on the old Sony so it jams ... won't eject through the slot on my MP. Ordered this through OWC and it is the correct unit for my Mac ... am I missing something?

Ok ... figured out that I had to take the bezel off, which I did so got it to load. But now have a different problem ... am getting an error when I try to burn with it. Message is 'Device can't calibrate laser to media.' When I put old burner back in it works.

Any ideas?
