I have MAMP installed and basically im trying to upgrade PEAR to the latest version.

I know how to do it and all, but the problem is that it keeps upgrading the version of PEAR thats installed with OSX.

    If i type:
    Code:
    which pear
    I get:
    Code:
    /usr/bin/pear
The pear that im trying to upgrade is located in:
    Code:
    /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/PEAR
How can i change this so that it looks here instead? Do i use export PATH? Im a bit clueless on this.

    Thanks.

What I would do is something like:

    mv /usr/bin/pear /usr/bin/pear.old
    ln -s /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/PEAR /usr/bin/pear
