Hi there! So i've had my macbook pro (first one) for a few months now, with up until now not needing to deal with RAR files. I initially got 'The Unarchiver' to extract RAR files, but every time I extracted the files the applications in them don't open - they ask for my permission to open as they're from the internet, but then just blink on and off on the dock and fail to open.

I have extracted the files on a windows computer (using WinRar) and copied them back over, with the files working then, but this is no longer an option.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea as to why they're failing to open! thanks :)

OS X does have some trouble with this file type for one reason or another. The program I use is 'UnRarX' and it works fine enough. I too used to do the Windows transfer and it does get a little annoying, especially with larger files.
