problem with sending large files

For some reason, this MBP refuses to send large files via iChat (i.e., a folder fulla music.) When I disconnect the ethernet and plug it into my iMac G5, however, I CAN send the folder! Is there any reason that the MBP lacks this ability?

the MBP can send individual songs, btw, but an error occurs when a large file is attempted.
