Hi guys,

I have a 24" IMAC (mid 2010) model. Problem is that I tried to connect a USB device like Printer, External HDD or DVD Writer to my mac through a USB hub it just didn't work.

But when I connect the devices directly to my MAC, problem solved. Now I'm wondering if my Belkin 6 port travel usb hub is not compatible.

Possibly stupid question here but could someone please shed the light?

100% agree with @turboholic - get a powered hub. Passive hubs will work OK for some items like mice & keyboards but they just don't cut it for many devices - particularly bus-powered hard drives, bus-powered DVD drives, thumb drives, syncing iPhones, etc. No sense using a passive hub on an iMac where you have plenty of places to hide the power lead.

Personally I've had great luck with Plugable.
