I just got my macbook on wednesday, and i am having real problems backing up. My macbook is having many cosmetic, software and hardware problems, so apple is replacing it on thursday, but i cannot back up my data as every time i do it gets stuck and freezes (including time machine and super duper). Does apple transfer your data across for you or do you need to do that your self before hand? Can you recommend any way to back up?

Apple will not backup your drive, so you'll need to get it fixed before you take it in. However, if you're really struggling to get Time Machine to work, they may assist you with that beforehand.

What type of hard drive are you backing up onto?
