Hey all, I haven't read any posts on here with similar problems but there are loads on the Apple Support board about similar situation. They couldn't find much of a solution.

I have tried using toast and disk utility to burn on my DVDs (dual layers to be exact) but haven't had much luck since all comes up with medium error? I tried different brands/batch etc, but still the same problem.

Did the whole permissions checking, didn't help... It burns CDs alright though and DVDs, just not DL

Curious if anyone here have similar problems or have solutions etc?

Thanks!

DVD + DL
CDs, DVDs are alright

did you try burning at 2x?

I have that problem if I try to burn them at 4x, but they work fine at 2x.

Mine would always stop burning at 50% through the DL disc, regardless of what it was I was burning

I tried at 2x as suggested, it doesn't work either...
hum

the error message is :

Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code = 0x0C
WRITE ERROR

Normally, it would mean the dvd +DL is bad but this happens with several brands and batches of dvd +dl i have tried.... should i bring this to applecare :D

FUJI, TDK, Memorex
the TDK has burned one out of 4 and the rest were like all fail

I find most of the major brands will fail...
right now i'm using the cheapest, nastiest unbranded stuff and it works great!:D

Hey all thanks for ur advice,
strangely i got verbatim (cost an arm and leg) and it worked?!?!!
i guess from now on, i will be only going for that.
:d

wish i can go for the unbranded type and work

I am having the exact same problem and i shelled out 100 bucks for 50 pack of dual layer dvd+DL ......... none of my burns work .... so frustrating..

Did you try verbatim, reset your pram and SMC? I wonder if he new firmwire would help.
