Hey guys and gals,
I've just bought a second-hand G4 off eBay (the one in my sig). It came with the an OS9 installation on a partition on the 10gig drive and the original OS9 install disks. It's got a hooky version of 10.2 Jaguar on the second drive (an 80gig Maxtor) and no original restore disks. I've got a legit copy of 10.3 Panther (4CD version) which I want to install. I've got two questions...
1) I don't have the Administrator account password. I want to use this as a file server. I've got it hooked up to the internet but without the admin password I can only access the machine as a guest and am limited to the drop-box. I want to run this headless and have full access over the network. If I upgrade to Panther can I set up a new Admin account from scratch and will this get round the whole problem?
2) The 10gig drive is split into two equal partitions. The first has an OS9 install on it. The second is empty. Can I install 10.3 onto this second partition, leaving the 80gig Maxtor free for Apps and media?
Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers, Derwood
