My friend brought his iPod over to Jailbreak last night but we couldn't get it to work. I had a similar problem and it took me a few attempts to get it going. So here's what we did:
  1. Hold down power and home key, release power key when screen went black
  2. iPod showed up in diagnostics mode, held alt and chose restore to take back to 1.1.1
  3. Went to jailbreakme.com and restarted
  4. Ran OKtoprep
  5. Upgraded to 1.1.2
  6. Ran jailbreak java file, but when it got to the end it said rebooting device, and iTunes said it had problems and needed to be restored.

Can anyone think of anything we did wrong?

That sounds about right. Did the ipod say it needed to be restored, or did iTunes? Because if it was the ipod just plug it into itunes and it should have you follow a few steps to set it up, and then you should be good to go.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. The iPod has that iTunes and USB graphic on it asking you to plug it in, but it was already plugged in, then iTunes popped up stating it needed to be restored. The only option we are given is Restore in iTunes which wipes the Jailbreak.
