Recently my G5 has had a series of minor problems...

it began when at first my optical drive would read disks... but not show them on the desktop. This has happened multiple times, but now seems to be reconciled.

Now, when using AIM, it no longer displays buddy info on my window, such as "USER is now away from the computer at x:xx:xx AM/PM", or "USER has signed off at x:xx:xx AM/PM"

Also, I get weird MP3 bugs occasionally where the MP3 file is "stretched" out. A 4 minute song, for example, will play in iTunes as 22:50... and sound garbled. I've still yet to figure out why this is... perhaps corrupted QT translators?

Any help would be appreciated.

if you're having problems like that... i'd suggest to get rid of AIM and any other stupid little third party apps.

that 'MP3 bug' that you get, are you sure the MP3 file isn't corrupted? can you play it properly at other times?

if small things like this keep happening there might not be anything you can do except re-install OS X.
