Hello,

Just purchased a new Ipad 2 which is my first experience with an Ipad. I set up my gmail account to sync with the ipad. I have noticed that none of my contacts transferred over from gmail to the ipad. Furthermore, and even more bothersome, is that several events which I have deleted over the past several months on my gmail calendar are still appearing on my ipad calendar. I checked my gmail calendar (on my PC and on my cell phone) and the events previously deleted do not appear in either location, however they are appearing on my Ipad calendar. Anyone know why this is happening? Is there a better way (3rd party app, ect) to sync my gmail calendar and contacts to the ipad? Thanks for any advice!!!

How did you setup your gmail account on the iPad? Did you do it using the Gmail option? Using the Exchange option will allow you to get live sync of mail, contacts and calendars which is probably what you want.

Yes, I did setup via the Gmail option. How do I set up using Exchange? Thanks a bunch!

I am completely exasperated. All I want to figure out is how to sync my gmail calendar with iCal on my iPad2. Adding the account via gmail, CalDAV, and Exchange has not worked. I've made the appropriate setting changes, all passwords are correct, and I've heeded all advice from this forum. What am I missing?!

Me too.....cannot get my ipad calendar to exactly match my gmail calendar. On my gmail calendar I created an event ("work") which occurred every single day in 2011. I did this due to my schedule changing every week. I then went through my gmail calendar and manually deleted the days I had off and added "off" to those days. I set up my ipad calendar as Exchange and it shows every day as working as well as the days off I entered via gmail. Very frustrating!

Couple of things to check:

Have you turned off syncing the calendar when you connect to itunes? It is not required when using exchange and can cause problems (usually multiple entries)

Have you set the default calendar to use as your gmail calendar? Otherwise any entries made on your ipad won't show up on your gmail calendar.

If all else fails, delete the exchange account on your ipad and reset it up again, it should not match on your ipad.

Should or should not match my my ipad?
