Problems when adding movies/tv shows to itunes

I am having a problem with my Itunes, every time I try and add a converted file, or even a .mp4 file I've downloaded to my Itunes it crashes without fail, every time. Im running XP and Itunes 7.6.1.

Has anyone had this problem or even better know a possible fix, as I have a large collection of videos ready and waiting for my Iphone. Cheers.

I had something similar once and deleting the itunes xml file under music>itunes and reimporting the itunes music folder (i think its option or cmd drag it into itunes to import without duplicating, fixed it for me, when trashing preferences didnt work
