I'm using Al Dente free currently on my MBA 15". Every time I start Al Dente I have to install the Helper app to it and have to put in my password to install it. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with the latest version but it still happens. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.

This is on Sonoma. I uninstalled again today following the developers website. When I closed and opened it a couple of times the helper installation window did not come up. I'll wait and see if it reappears tomorrow.

Been using it on my M2MBA since I got it, haven't gotten a problem here.
It seems to suddenly stop on its own and then my MBP gets charged to 100%. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm always having to reload the helper app. Al Dente set at 50%. Seems to do its own thing. Inconsistent for me.

From what I understand, macOS is able to handle intelligent charging on its own now without third-party bloatware.
Apple’s OBC (Optimised Battery Charging) has never worked for my usage on two M1 MBAs and one M2 MBA. In any case the third party ones have much more control, so that even if OBC did work I would stay with a Third party one.

I used AlDente for two years but have recently switched to Energiza for a cleaner simpler interface.

I haven't had that particular issue, but on my Intel MBP, the percentage setting keeps resetting itself to 103% for some reason.

AlDente isn't "bloatware," even if you don't like or use it. It's a very resource-light app that simply limits charging at a certain percentage level.

Apple's intelligent charging dynamically adjusts how much your Mac is charged, and doesn't let you control the amount. And it only really works if you have super consistent habits for charging/desk use. Many people don't, so AlDente is nice.

Al Dente is working fine for me now... at least for the moment. I hope it continues to do because when it works it's very helpful.

Just a quick update. I too also had the problem of Al Dente charging past the 80% limit from time to time along with the annoying password issue every time I started it. I uninstalled it based on the guide that the developer has on their website although some of the steps were not available for me to perform, such as deleting some files in the Library folder which mine did not have. After following the steps that I could and reinstalling the password issue hasn't occurred again as of yet and it has charged only to the 80% limit. I have only had it charge a couple of times so time will tell if this is a permanent fix.

Looks like I jinxed myself with my post yesterday. I went to charge my MB again, plugged it in and opened Al Dente and the password prompt came up again. It got me to thinking that maybe I need to open Al Dente first and then plug it in so after closing the software I tried it that way and no password prompt. I'm doubtful that is truly the solution but I'll keep trying that and see.

I think when I turn off or restart my MBP then I have to go through the password thing again. It appears that Al Dente does not have memory and just needs to have the password entered again. So, after restarting the MBP, the power cord is connected and, boom, it's charged to 100% again. I feel like I'm chasing Al Dente and losing. I wish it had a memory of my settings, but it does not appear to be the case.
