So, it seems like my Apple Airport Extreme is acting up lately. Basically, it has a solid green light, BUT NO Wi-fi signal at all. I reset the router once, unplugged it, unplugged the incoming cable wire, let it sit for a few and then fired it right back up and it was working again. It happened again. Any advice? Thanks.

What generation is it? Is it dropping out at completely random times? Do you have it in bridge mode?

Thanks for the reply.
1) Not sure on the generation, bought it about two years ago.
2) Drops random times,; only twice
3) Not sure what bridge mode is.
Thanks.

1. Is it flat or like a tower?

2. Typically this is caused by a DHCP problem from an upstream router.

3. Look under the Network tab in AirPort Utility under "Router Mode".

Got it.
1) Flat
2) Ok, how can fix that?
3) When I get home, I will update this thread.
FWIW, it was working flawlessly for a few years and then it started acting up.
Thanks again!

Report back whether it is in bridge mode or not. Usually when they start to act up they are on their way out but we can check a few things...

Here you go.

Thank you Altemose. I had 7.6.3 and then upgraded to 7.6.7 with the same results. I'm thinking its toast. If I can find 7.6.1. I will try it and then update you.

I am not going to lie to you and say that it is not the case, but I have found that doing the downgrade will give you reliable use out of it. You should be able to option click the version number in AirPort Utility to downgrade to that firmware. I had an Extreme do exactly what you have happening, with random Wi-Fi drop outs but remaining a solid green status light. By downgrading to 7.6.1, it miraculously ran fine! I have no idea why, but I believe it was attributed to load. It would work fine when a few users were online, but if it was slammed it would fail.
