problems with EndNote

I can't get google scholar and academic journal web sites to 'talk' to EndNote on my MBA. When I click on the download citation links, it downloads to the download folder but when I click on the file, I get the error message

There is no default application specified to open the document [file name].

Does anyone know how to fix this? This is the first time I'm using EndNote on my mac, and I've never dealt with this on my Windows work computer.

EndNote Solution

If you drag and drop the citation file onto the EndNote icon on the dock it should open up in the app.
