Has anyone had any recent luck with exchanging an iPad? I have a launch day 3G, and I've been having some problems as of late. Video freezes after an hour or so (even with the new update installed), and it'll randomly turn off (regardless of application or use). I've also gotten a few temperature warnings when it was inside, sitting on a table. My problem is, I'd like to get a replacement in store, and not have to send it in. In my experience, sending it to get "repaired" always ends with the same, "we couldn't replicate the problem" (obviously, since it happens once every three days or so).

Do they treat the iPad like an iPhone and give you a replacement right away, or do they force you to send it in for "repair"?

If it's truly broken, they will replace on the spot if they have stock.

If they have any in stock, they'll be more than happy to replace your iPad on the spot.

They're fairly generous with returns and replacements, so try. :)

Thanks for the replies, guys. It's about a 45 minute drive to the Apple store, so I didn't want to waste a trip!

    My advice to you:

    Make an appointment online first.

Next, call your Apple store to confirm that they have the right iPad in stock for exchange.

    Best of luck :D

They have special stock for replacements as I found out the other day. I asked them what they were going to do about my messed up iPad since they were so hard to come back and the genius said they have stock set aside for replacements even when they have none for retail. She went in the box and got a brown fedex box that had an iPad inside with no accessories and gave it to me to replace my broken one.
