Problems with Mavericks GM Installation

Downloaded the GM, now it says I have to copy it to a writable mac os extended formatted disk, I just got done wiping my mac a few hours ago so I have no idea what it means by this message. Is there something I'm supposed to do specifically?

Copy it to an external drive and run the installer from there.

Sounds like it's in a disk image. Copy it over to your HD and then it should work.

Yeah I got it just before you posted that, had to drag the install icon to my desktop and run it from there. Sorry I'm noobish, I've been using windows my whole life lol I only started using Mac less than a month ago
