I'm not sure which one it is, but I've been trying to set up a PHP Forum on my Mac, and when it comes to setup, I get an error:
Code:
Could not connect to the database, see error message below.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

The database IS created and writeable.

Here are the details of my setup:
Computer: Macintosh G4 AGP Minitower
Processor: 400Mhz PowerPC G4
RAM: 1Gb SDRAM
OS: OS X 10.4.11
HD: ST320011A Quantum Fireball SE6.4A

phpMyAdmin: 2.11.11.1
MySQL: 5.0.87
UNIX socket: /tmp/mysql.sock
SMF version: 1.1.12

(Don't know what else to put for information)

I've tried two different forums (SMF and phpBB), but they BOTH look for /var/mysql/mysql.sock. And as you see, my UNIX socket is /tmp/mysql.sock

Now, who can help with my problem? Anything would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

This error comes up a bit. From memory, a common solution was to create a symbolic link between those locations.
