I bought a refurbed MAC G4. It has a Western Digital 80g hard drive, 500mhz processer, and had OS X on it. I loaded OS 9.2.2 on it so I could upgrade the processor and when I try to start it in OS 9 I get a box saying:
The System software on the startup disk only functions on the original media, not if copied to another drive.

Need some help my friends, what do I do?

Is this the disc that originally came with the G4, because all discs have a "owner" that it will only work with. If I took my iBook (long since stolen at school) discs and installed them on my friends powerbook, it won't work, since my iBook discs are for my and only my ibook.

That message sounds like the one you got if you simply copied the system folder from the CD onto the hard drive. That doesn't work. you have to actually use the installer.
