I have my email set to push but often it doesn't arrive when the phone has a wifi connection. A few minutes ago I got a text from a friend which referenced a set of emails which had been sent earlier today. I went to my email and hit refresh, and sure enough I have four messages which were not pushed to the phone when they should have been. I've also had it where when going out I will receive all my email for the day only once I get out of wifi range of my house but not before. Its not consistent though as it some days it works fine, there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern to it all. Any one else experiencing this?

um it would be kind of relevant to mention what email service you're even using.

Happens to me quite a lot.... I use MMe

With some experiments I gathered that iPhone only.. er.. accepts pushed mail on cellular network. On WiFi... it almost never does!

What people take as granted is that when WiFi is switched on... its always connected. Thats not the case! iPhone actually only establishes a full connection on YOUR request viz, you open up Safari, Mail, or any other app using data!
Other than that... its always connected to cellular data and switches off its wifi to conserve power! This is easily observed when you connect to WiFi, lock, unlock again and then you might notice that the iPhone is Not using wifi but 3G by looking t the connection indication in the menubar...

SO what I found is that Push on actual Wifi is really hitchy... it works rarely but most of the time it doesnt!

Hope it helps... And I recommend you do Googling and dont take my post as the last word.
