I know this has been talked about in numerous other places on the web but I've seen no final answer. Figured programmers might know.. I just upgraded to Leopard from Tiger and now my BOINC running SETI@home no longer runs its seti process as "nice". I watch it in Activity Monitor and it always used to run the process on one core (per my request) at 100%, and as a "nice" process - so it would get out of the way for other programs.

Now I'm hearing that Leopard no longer supports or displays nice %. Do you guys know if this is something Apple is working on?

Sadly, with Leopard in mid-life cycle, the issue of "niceness" on BOINC is still plaguing many of us crunchers. Already at 10.5.6, there still hasn't any fix in sight by Apple.

I'm one of those still stuck in Tiger. :(:( I really hope this will be addressed in Snow Leopard.
