I know the CoreDuo processors in the white iMacs are replaceable with a C2D processor, effectively upgrading the machine.

I was wondering if this is the same with the CoreDuo 15" MBP, as I have one of these as well.

I would be interested to know if this is the case, and if anyone has done the swap.

It's very possible, just impractical.

You need access to a BGA Rework Station and the knowledge of how to use one, or somebody that does.
 
Socketed would be the only way. I don't have access to a soldering station...
