Maybe I'm just an optimist, I'm hoping that the issues with other coreM laptops were that they were badly designed and so throttling etc because of thermal issues. I'm optimistic Apple have designed this well because a) they usually though not always do, b) the MacPro has some crazy cooling ideas even though it has a fan they may have learned from, c) they are using the top of the range 5Y71 coreM in some Macbook models, which is newer and more powerful than the 5Y70 that's in most of the tested PCs so far, d) they have been able to let it have more than its base TDP so it's nearer 6W than 4.5W and implies the opposite of having to lower the base TDP so it doesn't overheat, i.e. that it has been well designed to cope with the fastest coreM processor running overclocked (back to point a) again!). Only the tests will see if that's true, but for now I'm still optimistic!

In terms of the tablet comparison, that was just showing the processors actually beat a current 15W i5 that is in the Surface Pro, which is a tablet/PC hybrid and actually fairly well reviewed as a PC with decent benchmarks etc... And that no-one as far as I know has yet produced a good implementation of a coreM PC, meaning all of the tests of the processors so far have been crippled by bad design, throttling etc. You can't just drop it into a socket like the desktop PCs to run tests on, the test has to rely on the computer surrounding it, making comparisons more difficult.

I think the "air" brand will go away. There will be just pro and consumer. Both very thin with long battery life.
