Product key for office 2008

I've got macbook Pro with Office 2008, just ran software update and now every time I try and open anything office 2008 it says may product key need updating.

I filled in my office product keys which were on the box (now thrown) but none of them seem to let me enter it in the box?

Any help please on how I can get office working again?

Just like DRM, product keys seem to be more troublesome for valid users than for pirates. Hopefully someday they will go the way of the dodo bird too.

This is probably why nobody can ever throw away the boxes - unless you record the product keys in a spreadsheet, or other specialized application that stores license/registration numbers.
