When given the instructions by the seed portal, a person is warned not to put it on a production machine. That person wants to know:

1. Is their any risk their existing production Airport network might get compromised in its integrity if they install Lion?

2. Have people who are officially on the seed successfully erase and cloned back 10.6 to their machine?

3. Have people successfully kept a partition of 10.6 and Lion beta on their machine without any adverse side effects?

Or do you recommend setting up a different network on the same airport base station?

Or do you recommend setting up a different network on a different airport base station to avoid issues?

Or do you recommend swapping hard drives for 10.6 & Lion on the same machine?

That person has asked the question of the seed portal a week ago with no response yet. I hope someone here experienced on the seed can say what's worked for them?

That person has two other machines on the same Airport network that are production machines.

The network itself? No, it won't be affected.

I haven't but I would strongly recommend putting it on a separate partition or drive.

That's how mine is set up: two partitions, one for SL and the other for Lion. So far, so good. However, who knows what nasty bugs might pop up in future builds...maybe some sort of data loss bug, in which case your other partition *could* potentially be affected.

I would say if you're concerned about your data and about the uptime of the machine, there's absolutely no way you should be considering installing Lion on that machine. At most, if it's just for testing or poking around, consider using the two partition solution you mentioned, but please have a good backup (or two) first, just in case.

If the machine wasn't important, I'm guessing you wouldn't be asking.

There seem to be a lot of people on here who have paid their basic developer fee to try Lion, just to see what it is like. Although this might be interesting, there could be significant changes by the time the real version is released. If you are developing or supporting software, this might be worthwhile, but otherwise what a waste of money and time. Close the lid or select sleep and go out for a beer, walk, movie etc instead and when Lion is released wait for at least 10.7.2 for the best experience

Most definitely about backups. I'm just curious to know just how deep into the file system Lion goes, and how easy it is to restore on the same hard drive or not. If they have to purchase another hard drive beyond what they have for multiple backups, I don't think they'll want to test Lion. Just wanted to see if people have managed to revert on the same hard drive or not.

Riiiight. What kind of music and food do you approve? Can I cross the street without a cross walk? Is ok to go out in the rain without a jacket? Is it ok to like basketball and hate football? Please provide a complete list of the things which meet your standards so I can conform.
