and some people dont' feel immoral looking at porn 20 hours a day, what's your point?

just because you're okay with swearing doesn't mean that some people don't have moral objections to it - i for one feel it is morally wrong to swear, no matter the company. yes, it can be impolite and innapropriate, but in my book, it's still wrong.

Exactly. You hit the nail on the head. Some people are offended, some aren't. Some people are offended by the eating of pork. Some people are offended by the eating of beef. Some people are offended by the eating of *any* meat. So should depictions of meat-eating at the dinnertable be eliminated from primetime? The same logic applies. This is one case where majority rules, so the networks are just going to go along with what the majority of the public deems appropriate.

and it's because of people like you that it offends me that they are so liberal with their tongues on the telly! ;)

I didn't realize that you were from England, shadowfax. Or is the word "telly" a local word? :p

My thought on profanity is that there is more intellectual way to express feeling. Personally I don't use profanity.

What happened to freedom of speech? If you don't want to listen to the profanity of television, watch another show, or even turn off the television!

for the most part, i think that the political forums have become a much more docile creature in terms of all the hot blood going round. it's a pretty neat place, really.

Really? I haven't set foot in one in 3 months... I just worry that with elections coming up we are going to regress...

I just hope the political stuff can be contained in that forum, so I don't have to see it. ;) (No offense to the political posters, but I like the non-political version of MR... I listen to enough politics during the day, and I use MR to relax....)

indeed. i'm not indicting the networks. the truly offensive thing is that americans don't turn it off. if they did, crap like they have on the air now would flop and they would have to pick better stuff.
